My Honest Review of Thavorn Palm Beach – Karon

After checking in and receiving all the necessary information from the reception staff , i was accompanied by one of the staff to my accommodation.

Types of Rooms at  Thavorn Palm Beach Resort – Kamala

Asking the receptionist and reading the brochure of the Hotel I have – notice that the Hotel is divided in 3 big area (buildings) and the types of rooms are the following.

Family Deluxe Rooms – 2 Beedroom Family Suite – Seaview Three Bedroom Suite with Bathtub – Deluxe Terrace – Family Fun Deluxe Terrace – Deluxe Terrace Garden Access – Deluxe Terrace Pool View – All Inclusive Deluxe Terrace  – Half Board Deluxe Terrace – Seaview Deluxe Terrace – Seaview Sunken Lounge Deluxe Terrace

Honestly i dont know the difference between each rooms . For that i suggest to visit the official hotel website or send a message directly to the hotel

My accomodation room : Deluxe Terrace Pool View

I stayed here 3 days – 2 nights and was placed in the Deluxe Terrace Pool View in Building 3

The room was on the second floor and there was no direct access to the pool. I noticed that the first floor rooms had great access to the garden near one of the pool, the Blue Heaven Pool.
The room overlooked the sea , the tropical garden and the 3 pool of the Hotel.

Upon entering the room I noticed that it was very clean and bright. The size of the room was about 35/40 square meters, large bed and adjoining sofa bed perfect for relaxing and reading a book.
In addition to the bedroom, the bathroom was also spacious and equipped with everything you need.
Separate shower, toilet, courtesy set, bathrobe, towels, slippers, hairdryer.

A very spacious terrace, with a small table and two chairs was also a plus, to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, while waiting for the sunset. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind to me, and I was unable to enjoy the sunset, but i was still enjoying a glass of wine, thanks to the room service.

During the night the atmosphere was not quite as we expected but not because of the hotel.
Due to the heavy rain, many frogs sang most of the night, but I still had my relaxing sleep.

The maid ensure my room was very clean and extremely helpful for any my request. The room was very comfortable in every way.

Summarizing the room was provided with air-conditioned , linen, wardrobe, hand sanitiser, minibar (only water when i was accommodate), safety deposit box, carbon monoxide detector, electric kettle with some coffee and tea, desk, seating area, TV, telephone, satellite channels, flat-screen TV, cable channels, terrace, mosquito repellent, drying rack for clothing.

Amenities at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort – Kamala

3 Outdoor Swimmingpool (open from 07:00am till 07:00pm)

The 3 pools were true to the photographs on the hotel website, clean, very large and surrounded by plants, concrete statues and fantastic green flowers.
Blue Heaven Pool
The Hotel provide in this pool a 14 metres tall waterpark-grade slides include 4 fun exciting slides: curved, twin spiral, wide, and roller coaster spiral. The water slides are located next to the Blue Heaven pool side bar, allowing the customer to dine on delicious pool side , enjoy a tasty cocktails after have had a thrill on the waterpark-grade slides and a lot of fun.
Chaba Pool
Chaba Pool is within close walking distance to the Kids Room and the Animal Village Petting Zoo and Ciao Pizza Restaurant.
Near the pool customer can enjoy upbeat music and refreshing cocktails on submerged bar stools at Chaba swim up pool bar.
Paradise Pool
Paradise Pool is semi-isolated with many sunbeds and is really suitable for those who want to relax in privacy. With multiple shaded spots, this pool is perfect for daytime reading and poolside nap.

Food & Restaurants at Thavorn Palm Beach Resort – Kamala

Most guests at the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort should have a complimentary breakfast buffet included in their room package.  Breakfast is held in Windsong Restaurant. 
American and Asian breakfast is served . A great choice is offered to all guest. A lot of different food are offered. From eggs, to thai soup, thai food, sausage , bacon, cheese, salami, marmelade and bread ….. wooow.
There’s a lot of juice (mango , pineapple, apple and more) and an all-in-one coffee machine.

Customer can pick up sweet items like pastries, fruit, yougurt and granola.
The fruit choice was consisting of cut pineapple, papaya, watermelon .
The breakfast experience is really something you should try …..

Restaurant ( 7am to 10pm) – Ciao Pizza & Grill Restaurant
Average Price for 2 Pax: THB: 900/1’400 exclude alcohol

Since it is not yet high season, Ciao Pizza & Grill Restaurant replaces the Windsong Restaurant with its á la carte menu.

There is a decent variety of Italian, Western and Asian cuisine on the menu. The price are quite expensive.
Each guest will also find the menu in the room, but in a very small format, as it is used for room service.

The alcohol selection is good with different beers, wines and spirits listed. 
Cocktails vary from 295.00 – 350.00 THB

Pool bar and restaurant

If you are Happy Hour hopping at the 2 Pool Bar , start here. 
Happy Hour at the first Pool Bar goes from 15pm too 16pm when beers and cocktails get a special 50% discount and from 16pm too 17pm on the second pool bar with the same 50% discount.
4 beers are offered in the pool area for 499.00 THB.
The Pool Bar is a good way to relax after a journey in the Swimming pool, the Beach or after coming back from one excursion. 
Here you can relax with a drink before go back in the room and prepare yourself for the diner or before the visit on the stunning Patong night life or just visiting the Kata or Karon night Market.

Animal Village Petting Zoo

This activity is outdoors and is weather-dependent
Here you can see a wide array of friendly rabbits, turtles, parrots, and teacup pigs. 
This experience give you the idea how they can be so friendly the animals . Probably we should learn a lot from them . This is indeed one of the popular activities at the resort that I have heard from the staff.
Unfortunately during my stay at the hotel, this activities was canceled for the weather situation.

My overall experience

Overall, I had a nice stay at Thavorn Palm Beach- Karon Beach . The location was perfect and in a nice area of Karon Beach. The room was comfortable, big and very clean. The staff try all best to make you feeling confortable. Unfortunately the weather was not the best and I was unable to take advantage of all the opportunities, but I was able to take some time to read and relax. To be honest this hotel is not suitable for single or couple. This is more for families or group of friends ready to have a lot of fun.

A customer complained that a certain type of food was missing. I must admit that the request was meaningless and also very rude on the part of the customer. The staff was very busy and complaints so free and offending without I felt bad for the staff. The staff managed to remain very calm and after a while it all worked out. Unfortunately, rudeness exists all over the world, and sometimes it happens to see this too. Anyway, congratulations to the staff for having managed this thug in the best possible way.
