Welcome to Phuket Walking Street Market
Phuket Walking Street Market is a night market that takes over the beautiful Thalang Road in historical part of Phuket town every Sunday from 4pm till 9pm (and sometimes more ..)
Phuket Walking Street Market is called ‘Lard Yai Market’ (from the southern Thai dialect version of talaad yai, which means ‘big market’).
This 360-metre long street market allows visitors to discover some typical southern Thai culinary specialities as well as local handicraft and gift stalls. The Market is also fun and creative, the street itself is a great photo opportunity, and the choice of things to spot are interesting. It’s really a great photo spot opportunity.
The main entrance of Phuket Walking Street is on the eastern (Phuket Road) side of Thalang Road. The gate boasts a sign with ‘Lardyai’ written in 3 languages (Thai, Chinese and English) and is a popular photo spot. The colourful Sino-Portuguese-style house facades are enhanced by the addition of colour-changing lights, which also make a lovely backdrop.
This weekly event is for all but must for family-oriented with the presence of street food, toy stalls as well as musical performances and, entertaining acts and artisti (painters, caricaturists)
If you visit Phuket, is a must to see one time.
